On May 2, 1988, Archbishop Thomas Ambrose Tschoepe of Dallas called for the establishment of a Vietnamese Catholic parish in Grand Prairie. The Parish continues to have a strong Vietnamese community and is open to people of all cultures and tongues.
The Catholic Diocese of Dallas covers 7,523 sq. miles, 69 parishes, 5 quasi-parishes, and an estimated 1.4 million Catholics. The Catholic Diocese of Dallas includes the following nine counties: Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, and Rockwall an area of 7,523 sq. miles.
