St. John's mission church was canonically erected as a parish church with territorial limits established by Bishop Wendelin J. Nold, S.T.D. Father Delaney had extended the work of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine so that it encompassed the greatest number of parishioners. On April 12, 1954, Msgr. Daniel P. O'Connell, P.A. of Galveston, officiated at the ground-breaking ceremonies for the new church.
Love God. Love Others. Make Disciples. In July of 2013, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Community became an Archdiocesan parish. The small country parish is now a large country parish with over 3,500 families.
