The Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady was built on the site of the present-day friary and its cornerstone laid on August 15, 1926, the feast of Our Lady of the Assumption.  Fr. Edwin Garrity, OFM, the first pastor, celebrated the opening Mass on Nov. 28, 1926.

Ninety years later, under the guidance of Fr. Richard Mucowski, OFM, pastor the Church of the Assumption of Our Blessed Lady remains a vibrant and growing community dedicated to the core Franciscan values of service, humility, peacemaking, contemplation and collegiality.
