Santo Christo is a Roman Catholic parish in Fall River, Massachusetts. Established in 1892, it is the mother church of the ethnic Portuguese parishes in our area. We invite you to become a member of our vibrant community by worshiping God at Holy Mass, receiving the sacraments with faith and devotion, and participating in parish events and ministries. Mass and the sacraments are celebrated in English and Portuguese. We are the only Catholic parish in all the world named Santo Christo. The original, longer name, Senhor Santo Christo dos Milagres, means "Lord Holy Christ of the Miracles." We incorporate the image of our Lord Jesus Christ scourged and crowned before His crucifixion an image referred to as "Ecce homo" (Latin for "Behold the man"), drawing from Pontius Pilate's statement in John 19:5. This figure is widely revered on the island of Sao Miguel (St. Michael) in the Azores, where much of our community has roots.
